The staff at northport are the most caring people you can imagine. On my 2nd visit to northport Holly, one of the ladys that does playtime, knew my dogs name, and even more my dog knew Holly. When I was checking out I spoke to another client who had been taking their family dogs to northport for the last 30 years and they love the place! I feel that the family that runs northport takes great pride in their employees and it shows in the personal care my dog and I received. You should tour the kennels and make sure to meet the staff.

Zena my lab mix does not care for other dogs (she is shy),we had an occurance at another kennel where the dogs all run together and she ended up on the losing end when another dog picked on her.We were reffered by our nieghbor to Northport.Half the price and she gets individual playtime, which suits us perfectly. The staff was supper and the place was very clean when we toured the kennels and when we droped her off. When we picked Zena up she was very relaxed and happy, which is a first for her! We strongly recomend Northport-No Gimmics just caring people and nice facilities.

Probaby the cheapest place to board your pet in San Antonio, but it is definitely not the best quality. They returned my dog bed in a plastic garbage bag because it was soaked with urine and feces. Had to just throw it away when I got home and it makes me wonder if they even took him out of the cage twice a day like they said. Also, they don't allow the dogs to play outside for hours like other places.

I have boarded my two dogs and two cats at Northport for the past 7 years. It is not by any means a fancy resort style kennel, but is a very personable, friendly, warm enviroment. The facility is familyowned and the staff truely cares about the well being of my animals. They are considerate and gentle with my pets as if they were their own. One of my dogs has some issues with separation from me. I told the staff at Northport about my concerns and they made sure to watch over him. They gave him lots of attention with playtime and monitored his food intake as well. When looking for a place to care for your animals what really matters to you? How new and modern the decor looks? Or the kind gentle staff that will comfort your pets while you are gone? I prefer the staff over the decor. I will continue to take my pets here and highly recommend it to anyone else.

I was so pleased to find a small, family-owned place nearby. Not alot of frills, just a cool, dry, clean kennel and a few nice play yards. My dog seemed to have eaten very well during his stay. Staff was friendly and competent; Indoor/outdoor access during the day & air conditioning. The receptionist's a little grouchy, but the people that deal with the animals were great. My dog was EXHAUSTED when he came home, which tells me that he had three days of hard play. I can barely wear him out with a two-mile walk & a backpack, so I was very pleased that they had dedicated so much time to him. If you prefer the souless, chain-store look of the franchise kennels then you may not be happy with Northport, but if you want a nice family to look after your dog while you're away, this is the one.
