Top Nightlife Spots in San Antonio

Looking for a place to grab a drink? You've come to the right place!

One of the great things about San Antonio is that you're never far from an excellent watering hole. Here are the Top 10 places to wet your whistle and let your hair down.

1) Durty Nellie's Irish Pub. Located on the River Walk downtown, Durty Nellie's has the perfect atmosphere. With an average cost of $5 per drink, you are guaranteed a good time at this Irish pub. The moment you walk in, you'll notice the millions of peanut shells on the floor, and there is always live music playing. The mood is casual and there is plenty of space for everyone. Durty Nellie's also offers appetizers, so if you're headed to the River Walk, be sure to check out this fun Irish pub, but remember to bring cash for parking in the downtown area.

2) 20 Nine Restaurant and Wine Bar. Set in the Quarry Market off HWY 281 and Basse, 20 Nine has a great patio and tremendous bar. Customers have the option of ordering gourmet food as well as trying some of the bar's 60 wines. The atmosphere here is business casual and very trendy. Since it is a wine bar, the prices are much higher than you'll find elsewhere, but the extra cost is worth it if you value selection. 20 Nine is perfect for wine enthusiasts or anyone who just wants to relax with a nice glass of wine.

3) Swig, a cigar and martini bar, has a great atmosphere and is located right off the River Walk at 111 Crockett Street. Swig's has live jazz music Tuesday through Saturday, set in a very chic atmosphere. Pricing here is a little steep, about $7 per drink, but worth it. Order up that perfect flirtini and try a new cigar any night at Swig's.

4) Cowboys Dancehall is the perfect place for drinks and country dancing. It has a huge dance floor and two levels with plenty of space for everyone. Drinks are priced moderately (the average being $4 each). Sometimes there is a cover charge to get in, but usually ladies get in for free before a certain time. Cowboys Dancehall is located off IH-35 and Loop 410. Make sure to ride the mechanical bull!

5) Luna is located near the airport at 6470 San Pedro. It always has great live music to offer. Whether you are in the mood for jazz, blues, funk or soul, chances are there will be something there for you to enjoy. Luna is business casual and has a great atmosphere for a happy hour and snacks.

6) Bonham Exchange. Head here for the best night out at a club. Located at 411 Bonham St., it has three dance floors on three separate levels and four bars throughout the building. Those 21 and older get in for free before 10 p.m., and there are always drink specials. The Bonham is a local favorite in San Antonio and offers a variety of music. The atmosphere is casual, so dance the night away at the Bonham next time you want to go out in San Antonio.

7) Suede Lounge. Located at 231 Houston St. downtown, Suede is the perfect ultra lounge for hip young adults. With its strict dress code, everyone you encounter there will be decked out in their best attire (and you should be, too). You can come in, order a bottle and have their modern VIP area all to yourself. After hanging out in the lounge area, head to the dance floor where trance and house music pumps you up.

8) Scout Bar, off U.S. Highway 281, is a great atmosphere if you like listening to live music. The hottest bands play here; you will not be disappointed. It is a decent-sized bar that has hosted many artists. Naturally there is a cover if you check out a band here, but it usually is reasonable. Drinks are moderately priced. You will have a good time at the Scout Bar if you love live music.

9) Legends Sports Bar. In the mood for shooting pool? What about karaoke? Head to Legends Sports Bar off Loop 410 and Marbach for an evening of fun. The atmosphere here is extremely laid-back, and there are always great drink specials. There is so much to do at Legends, so make sure you bring your friends and family and hang out here one Friday night.

10) Sherlock's Baker St. Pub. Off HWY 281 and Thousand Oaks, Sherlock's offers live music, drink specials and a pool area for a night of entertainment.
