One of the most popular attractions in the city, the San Antonio River Walk (or Paseo del Rio in Spanish) runs along the river in the downtown area, passing many top attractions, restaurants and shops. Sites of interest along the path include the Alamo, the Blue Star Arts Complex, the Institute of Texan Cultures and the Spanish Governor's Palace. A destination in its own right, the winding path is the site of many festivals like the Mardi Gras River Parade in February and various arts and crafts shows. The path's cobblestone walkways wind throughout much of the city's downtown area, running as far east as the interstate.
